The Trust, in collaboration with local organisation FareShare, is proud to celebrate the ongoing success of the Archibald Eco Shop – a vibrant initiative that’s making a real difference for families and the environment.
FareShare, a local business committed to reducing food waste, helps facilitate the collection of food nearing its best-before date as well as surplus stock from supermarkets. These items are then offered to local families at significantly reduced prices, easing the pressure of the rising cost of living while promoting sustainable practices.
Not only does the Eco Shop reduce waste, but it also serves as a vital mini food hub for many families in the area. Parents and carers have praised the scheme, describing it as a lifeline for managing their weekly shopping budgets. More than just a shop, the space has quickly become a vibrant community hub where people can connect, support one another, and enjoy a welcoming atmosphere.
Adding to the sense of community is the involvement of both school staff and local volunteers, who come together each week to run the shop. Their dedication and enthusiasm are key to the Eco Shop’s success, making it a shining example of what can be achieved when communities and organisations work together.
The Archibald Eco Shop is not only addressing real world challenges, but also inspiring a growing sense of unity, sustainability, and shared purpose across the school and local area.
