Phil Latham
Chief Executive Officer

Phil is the Chief Executive of Endeavour Academies. He has worked in education for 27 years and was Principal of Macmillan Academy for 10 years. He holds a National Professional Qualification for both headship (NPQH) and executive leadership (NPQEL). He has worked as a National Leader of Education (NLE) and currently sits the advisory board for Schools North East, Campus School Teaching Alliance (CSTA) and is a governor of XP Gateshead.

Steve Cowgill

Archibald Primary School
Steve Cowgill has been the Deputy Headteacher of Archibald Primary school since 2002,and was appointed as Headteacher in September 2026.
Steve plays a key role in driving the school's vision of helping pupils to “Believe and Achieve.” With many years of experience in education in a number of schools, including time as a PiXL Associate supporting schools across the North East and North Yorkshire he is committed to creating a positive, inclusive learning environment in which every child can thrive and reach their full potential.  He holds a National Professional Qualification for headship (NPQH).

Rachel Coning
Headteacher
Macmillan Academy

Rachel has worked at Macmillan Academy since 2002. She has experience of a range of roles, including Head of Post 16, which she held for 10 years. Rachel was appointed as Headteacher of Macmillan Academy in 2019. She has a real passion for teaching and learning and ensuring that students access a wide range of experiences during their time in school.  Rachel holds the NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headteachers) and is a member of the Archimedes NE Maths Hub Strategic Board.

Mary Brindle
Chief Financial Officer

Mary joined Endeavour Academies in 2019 and has been Chief Financial Officer since 2020. Prior to this she worked with a regional accountancy firm for 12 years, specialising in academy trusts. Mary is also an accredited Schools Resource Management Advisor for the Department of Education. She is also a governor at her children’s primary school.

Alwyn Jackson
Director of Operations

Alwyn has worked at Macmillan Academy since 1989, when she started as Catering Manager. Alwyn was appointed Estates Director in 2008 and more recently, Operations Director. Alwyn has a passion for estate management and has and continues to produce a number of large-scale projects to make certain needs of the trust is met and ensure the trusts’ estate is future proofed.
