Endeavour Academies Trust - Macmillan Academy

Endeavour Foundation

Welcome to The Endeavour Foundation

The Endeavour Foundation is a charity  which supports the work of our Trust.  The foundation creates an infrastructure for our ‘Cradle to Career’ model, supports the work of our convening partnerships and generates income which enables investment in our collective impact projects.

Contextually there are significant challenges in schools that are complex, deep rooted and produce major barriers which children and young people have to overcome if they are to lead lives of choice and opportunity. While great schools have an integral role to play in looking to address these complex issues, we recognise that they cannot do so alone and must work in partnership if children are to flourish and thrive.

Our foundation is working to secure five outcomes for our pupils to ensure that they can thrive:

Be safe and well supported
Every child should be free from harm and enjoy secure, nurturing and positive experiences.

Be healthy
Every child should develop positive wellbeing, physically, mentally and emotionally.

Achieve well academically
Every child should be challenged and supported by great teaching and an ambitious, appropriate curriculum.

Achieve a positive destination
Every young person should be supported in such a way that when they leave us at 16 or 18, they go on to a destination which gives them optimism and gives them the best chance of fulfilling their potential.
Build strong, trusting relationships
Every child should develop peer and familial relationships, being able to engage positively with their local community.

The Foundation is focused on supporting a range of exciting innovations across our academies and our communities, focusing on those children who most need it.

Our Convening Partnerships

We have created cross-sector convening groups to harness the expertise and insight of multiple people and organisations in Middlesbrough, with 40 people from 25 organisations, representing nine different sectors already on board.

We have outlined three key areas to focus on; health inequalities, worsening NEET data and rising child poverty levels.

Our three work streams of health, families and futures seek to develop a collective impact approach to supporting our schools in forging more integrated provision of support for children and young people.

Health
Health outcomes in Middlesbrough are worse than average with several issues affecting children and young people. Our health group aims to develop and support positive well-being—physically, mentally and emotionally.

Family
Increasing poverty levels in the local area mean that many young people and children in school have significant barriers to both learning and personal development. Our families group aims to improve provision and support for families.

Futures
Destination data for young people in Middlesbrough lags behind that of their peers nationally. Our futures group aims to improve vocational education, support students in planning their future destinations and building employability skills.

You can see in ‘Our Projects’ some of the ways these groups have already turned talk into action and created meaningful impact for better outcomes and brighter futures.
