Here at Endeavour Academies, we are excited to be launching our very own Forest School supported by the Endeavour Foundation.
Many of you will have heard of the concept of a Forest School – but what does that look like in a school setting?
Forest School is an approach to learning that takes place in a natural environment, encouraging students to develop confidence, independence, and problem-solving skills through hands-on experiences. In secondary schools, it can be a powerful way to re-engage students, particularly those who thrive outside of the traditional classroom.
Students might take part in activities such as:
- Bushcraft and survival skills
- Nature-based art and science projects
- Outdoor team building and leadership exercises
- Environmental conservation and sustainability initiatives
Forest School sessions are often student-led, allowing learners to take ownership of their experiences, make decisions, and reflect on their growth — academically, socially, and emotionally.
It is not just about being outdoors; it’s about building resilience, collaboration, and a deeper connection with nature. We are excited to be introducing these opportunities to a wide range of trust students, and we will be back in the coming months to share how our students are hard at work in the forest!
