On Wednesday 9th July, Macmillan Academy opened its doors to host a celebration of the Endeavour Convening Partnerships (ECP), marking a year of transformative collaboration and community impact.
Since their inception, the three convening groups; Health, Futures, and Family, have brought together local institutions to create more integrated, responsive support for children and young people across Middlesbrough. The event was a powerful reflection of how shared vision and collective action can drive meaningful change.
Phil Latham introduced the event by highlighting the tangible outcomes of each group’s work. A newly released film showcased standout projects that have tackled health inequalities, improved life outcomes, and strengthened family support networks. It was a compelling testament to how these partnerships have moved beyond dialogue to deliver real-world solutions.
Verity Howorth from the Reach Foundation shared insights from the Feltham Convening Partnership, offering valuable lessons and parallels that resonated with the local audience. Following this, a lively panel brought together voices from across the three ECP groups and their discussion explored the challenges, successes, and future ambitions of the partnerships, sparking thoughtful dialogue and renewed energy for the work ahead.
One of the most powerful moments came from Post-16 students, who presented their own Youth Manifesto. With clarity and conviction, they outlined the priorities and concerns of young people in the region. Their voices were not only heard, they were felt, leaving a lasting impression on everyone in the room. The young people involved have now been invited to join the convening groups as student advisors from September to ensure that their voices continue to make an impact and influence future developments.
Middlesbrough Mayor Chris Cooke closed the event with heartfelt remarks, commending the partnerships for their dedication and urging continued momentum.
We’re excited to reconvene with all our partners on 23rd and 24th September as we begin the next cycle of meetings. The journey continues, and we look forward to developing existing projects as well as embarking on new ones.
